Gene expression during Iris flower development was studied using an array made of a subtractive cDNA library enriched for flower specific genes. The dramatic changes in the physiology that take place during flower unfolding and the onset of wilting is reflected in the gene expression pattern observed. Final goal of the research is the identification of genes which can be used as markers/predictors for cut flower quality.
