Dear ArrayNL-platform members, Please find below a summary of recent developments in our area of interest. Did we miss important items, please let us know. Yours sincerely, Johan den Dunnen ArrayNL platform =========================================================================== ArrayNL PLATFORM MEETING A next workshop is planned for mid/end April. As soon as a date is selected it will be announced. Those interested to present chip/micro-array related work are requested to let us know as soon as possible.
OLIGONUCLEOTIDES and MICRO-ARRAYS There is currently a huge interest in the use of oligonucleotides on micro- arrays as an alternative for PCR-ed cDNA inserts. To update everyone on the current possibilities, Isogen Bioscience is organizing a one-day meeting, Wednesday March 14 in Maarsen (alternative Tuesday March 13, Brussel). Details.
NKI / AvL - KWF Central Microarray Facility The NKI micro-array facility has opened a WWW-site displaying all related information. See http://microarrays.nki.nl/ for all recent developments.
LEIDEN GENOME TECHNOLOGY CENTER LEIDEN (LGTC) (http://www.dmd.nl/lgtc.html) * a murine cDNA-library (15,000 clones) has been acquired. Arrays containing all clones should be available in 6-8 weeks. Interested, please contact the LGTC * please note the latest news regarding Affymetrix GeneChips, including; -recent significant price reductions -problems with Murine Genome U74 array -discontinuation Human Cancer G110 array
ARRAY COURSE November 22/23 (2000) the Leiden Genome Technology Center (LGTC), in collaboration with the Medisch Genetisch Centrum Zuid-West Nederland (MGC) and the Bioinformatics-Team of Janssen Pharmaceutica, organized a course "Towards comprehending scanned arrays; expression profiling". The course was a great success but unfortunately many participants had to be disappointed. A next course, including more pratical training, will be organized as soon as possble (see the MGC-site). Essential for the practical part is the availability of a computer room with powerful PC's (i.e. >256 Mb RAM). Does anybody know where such a facility would be available ? (please let us know !!).
EDUCATION The Hogeschool Brabant Training Center organizes a course "DNA/RNA mutation detection; current and future possibilities" which covers several new technologies and some practical work using micro-arrays. Later this year, the "Hogeschool Leiden" will organize a pratical HLO-course aimed at the application of DNA-chip and micro-array technology. Follow their WWW-site for details.
